Chapter 9 - Feelings

*meanwhile at the Hokage's Office*

"Good day, Tsunade-sama." a weak voice said behind the door of Hokage's office.

"Sakura. Good day to you too. Come in." she replied to the voice. "I wanted to talk to you about this matter bu..."

Tsunade rose her eyes to look at her only too see red eyes and nose. "What happened to you? Don't tell me it's Uchiha again. That Sasuke..."

"It's not Sasuke. But still an Uchiha." said Sakura with a low voice.

"Oh, Itachi. So I suppose you still haven't spoke to him?" she asked.

"I did speak with him. But that was our last conversation. I don't want to see him ever again." replied Sakura.

"Well I am sorry to disappoint you dear, but...tonight we're having a celebration at the forest and you will both come. It might not be the best moment Sakura but...Why don't you start over? I mean, I know it's hard and so...but Sakura you like him. I can see it in your eyes, and don't try to deny." Sakura didn't know what to say.

"That was a long time ago Tsunade-sama..."

"Ago my ass. You like him Sakura and that's a fact. Stop running away from your feelings." Sakura stared at Tsunade because of what she just said. "I am not..."

"Sakura...Horrible things happened in the past to you...true...but you have to get over it and continue on living."

"Tsunade-sama..."

"You're a wonderful woman. And you will be a wonderful mother in the future. Accept your fate because you are fated to be with Itachi even after all that happened."

"I don't think that he even likes me...That one night happened because I was stupid enough to help him. By falling in love with him I ruined everything. Because of my stupid behaviour both my sister and baby are dead. If I tell him the truth then that would mean my surrender..."

"I'm sure that...your sister would be proud of you for what you've done, dear. And your baby too. Think about what your baby would have wanted. Why don't you think about this more 'til evening?" said Tsunade before walking out of her office.

Afterwards Sakura went at the hospital to find whatever she could do to keep her mind away from everything. For a little while she wanted to forget about everything and just overwork herself. As evening approached she decided in the end to go.

She needed a break after all that happened. The only thing that bugged her was that Itachi was going to be there. She got out of her work office and exited the building. Looking ahead the road towards the forest she couldn't see anyone. As if they all disappeared. But of course, everyone was in the forest celebrating. She began to walk towards the gate of the village.

"Are you alone?" a voice asked behind her and she recognized it. She didn't expect him to be here waiting for her.

"What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be at the celebration? After all they are doing this for your return. The hero of Konoha, Uchiha Itachi." she said with an angry voice.

"I just didn't want you to go alone there." Itachi said looking at the street. "It seems everybody is already there."

"Look here Itachi. I don't hate you or anything. But I don't know what you want and you keep asking me the same questions again and again and..." she couldn't continue as Itachi grabbed her hand with his own.

"I've got an interest in you." this statement left her wide-eyes. "I hated you when Hidan said those things, for a bit though. But after a while I told myself that there was no reason to hate you because you didn't kill him." Sakura began to walk towards the forest listening to him. She let him talk his thoughts. "When you got into Akatsuki you were as cold as me and you wouldn't let anyone get close to you. Only Yasuo. That's why I want to know what happened with you. Because you were not like this before as I remember." he kept talking.

"What about you? For the sake of the village you shoved your brother away from you. Don't you see that he is still looking at you?" Sakura was becoming a bit angry at him. "I understood that it was for the sake of the village but he is your brother Itachi." her eyes bega to tear and she turned her head away from him.

"Yes, you're right. But he had to hate me, resent me so that he could get stronger." He tried to take her chin into his hand but she wouldn't let him touch her. They arrived at the location where the celebration took place and Sakura saw Sasuke with Ino by a tree holding each other in their arms. She wanted to get away from that place that brought back memories of her fight with Sasuke. When he killed her baby. Sakura smiled sadly and a tear rolled down her face as she began walking away from everyone.

"Where are..."

"I want to be alone." she only said this while she left Itachi on the same spot. He took a glance at the direction where Sakura watched just a few moments ago and he understood. Or he thought so. He followed her, though he didn't know which way she went, and so he began searching for her. Leaving her alone at this moment, he didn't want to do that. "Why are always going somewhere I cannot see you? Why don't you just stay in my sight?" he kept searching for her walked away from the celebration location and kept walking till her legs began to hurt. She didn't notice how long she walked only when she arrived at the waterfall. This place brought back memories to her. Memories she wanted to forget but she just couldn't.

*flashback*

"What should I do?" Sakura kept wondering herself as she was watching a lifeless Itachi on the ground by a tree. She could see he was hurt but could she just go there and heal him? After all he was an enemy. Sakura's mind didn't know what to do anymore. She could just leave and let the Uchiha die there. This could have helped her with bringing back Sasuke and make him forget about his revenge. But also she couldn't forget she was a medic, a person supposed to help people with their life on the edge. Then she chose : she couldn't just leave him there and die. She went towards him and saw that his heartbeat was low. His pulse could hardly be felt. She tried to heal him on the spot but her chakra was depleted from the mission she just had.

Sakura could see there was nowhere she and him could take shelter as the rain was approaching. She also couldn't bring him in the village otherwise she would have risen suspicions. She remember that inside the waterfall was a small cage. She would have gotten wet because of it but she couldn't just do nothing. And so she regained herself and picked him off the ground. He was heavy she noticed that but it wasn't a long way till inside the waterfall. Once they got there she laid him on the ground, made a fire to keep his body warm and again tried to heal him. However, being tired she eventually fell asleep by his side. In the morning Itachi woke up to notice that he was blind and couldn't see at all. He began to panick as this was mostly his way of protecting himself of other people or killing them. Then he felt a presence by his side. He reached with his hand trying to search for something and when he found he could feel a warm skin and long hair.

"You're up? How are you feeling?" Sakura rose on her knees by his side and looked at him panicked.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"My name doesn't matter. I am a medic-nin from Konoha. You don't have to worry, I am not going to tell anyone about you." Sakura said hurriedly.

"What happened?" he asked again.

"I found you outside, in the forest, badly injured. Now stay still as I am going to continue heal you. Yesterday my chakra was depleted from a recent mission and couldn't fully heal you. It should be ok now." she whispered him.

"What is your name? How can I be sure I can trust you?" he couldn't just put his faith in anyone.

"My name is Haruno Sakura." Sakura was sure she was going to regret it later but it didn't matter at the moment.

"Haruno Sakura. Why do I seem to know you?" he asked again.

"I was a teammate of your brother. We were in team 7. However he is not here anymore as he is looking for you." Now Uchiha-san stay still so I can take a look at you.

"Why are you doing this? I am an enemy both to you and the village. What is your purpose?" Sakura didn't know what to respond. She didn't say anything, just kept looking at him. "How are your eyes?"

"I am blind. And you still haven't answered me, kunoichi." Itachi grabbed her wrist when he felt her trying to touch his eyes.

"I can assure you Uchiha-san. You can trust me. As for my purpose, I have none. I couldn't let you there. If someone else would have found you, now you would have been in a high-security prison." she told him. "Now let me check your eyes."

Sakura slowly opened his eyelids only to see dark onyx eyes with no glittering in them. He was trully blind, and as Sakura knew what to do she started her healing. However it didn't take only 1 day. It took 3 days for him to fully regain his vision. The last day of healing Sakura was tired and wanted to sleep.

"Tomorrow your vision should be fully regained, as for your Sharingan you can use it without having your eyes getting damaged. I also solved that problem." Sakura laid by his side and fell asleep instantly. Itachi had a bandage over his eyes so he couldn't see a thing. He couldn't see her face, only sense her, smell her. He laid back on his made-up bed to relax. He felt the kunoichi by his side moving in her sleep. This girl calmed him down somehow. He felt the sleep taking over him and in the end he was resting.

In the middle of the night Sakura woke up and removed his bandage on the eyes. He didn't wake up though, as she was moving her hands swiftly as not to wake him. For a while she looked at him and wondered how it would be to touch him. His face, his lips, his hair. Sakura knew that she was starting to fall for him. For Sasuke's brother, Uchiha Itachi. She slowly pressed her lips onto his and gave him a light kiss as to not wake the sleeping man. However Itachi's been awake for a while, since she woke up. He was a light sleeper so he sensed her. He was surprised when he felt her lips touching his. He inhaled her fragrance and moved his hand to her neck as to pull her closer.

Sakura was also shocked that he woke up and he was responding to her. She let her feeling get over her and continued her act. Itachi rose a bit and put an arm around her waist to bring her closer. He opened his eyes as he felt he didn't have the bandage anymore. He saw again. And he was pleased to see the woman that was kissing him. For the first time in forever he was attracted to someone, he wanted to have this girl by his side. He didn't know what those feelings were but he didn't deny them. For the first time he let down his protective barried. He watched her eyes, smelled her hair, felt her body. He also let her take control of him. Sakura felt that Itachi was no longer the cold person she thought him to be. They spent the night together without caring for consequences. They held each other in their arms as if they were husband and wife on their wedding night.

*end of flashback*

The crack of a small branch woke Sakura up from her trance. Why did she remember all these memories now? It was not the appropiate time for this kind of thing. She couldn't let him break her barrier again. He was the only one she was weak to. And he was just staying there looking at her and she at him. They watched each other as he got closer to her slowly. A tear was rolling down her cheek and he wanted to be there for her but he felt she didn't want him to be there for some reason.

"Why are you here?" she asked looking at the waterfall.

"I went to search for you. You disappeared out of my sight." he replied with a husky voice. Sakura quivered at his tone and low voice.

"Don't do it. I don't know what you want with me and I don't want to have anything to do with you. Not anymore." the last statement made Itachi wonder.

"Sakura..." he tried to say.

"Please. I'm just...too hurt to have you by my side. At least not here." She again looked at the waterfall letting her tears fall down in peace. She didn't brush them.

"What happened Sakura?" he tried to erase her tears with his own hand but she wouldn't let him. She shoved his hand away.

"Don't be so nice to me or I am gonna misunderstand again. Everything happened here and it shouldn't have. It's just my fault. If I hadn't found you here that day, maybe we wouldn't have gotten here. It's only my fault..." she whispered between hiccups. "Also...I didn't tell you the entire truth." She decided it was time to tell him.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"I will start by telling you how I found you that day." Sakura began to tell him the entire story. She reached a point where she didn't know how to continue anymore.

"You didn't remember anything until now because I gave you a memory pill. Everything that happened in that last week, you forgot all about it. And also...that night had consequences." Sakura turned to him and watched him in the eyes. She took his hand and placed it over her belly. "Yes it did, but only for 3 months." she looked down at her feet.

"Sasuke found out and enraged he killed my sister. And afterwards he found me. We fought because of that and I couldn't let him kill me. I wanted to protect our baby. I strived so much that I didn't notice a last attack from him. His katana cut right through my belly to my back. Then I realised that...I've lost the baby. The fruit of our night. I am so sorry!" Sakura began to cry so hard that even the strength in her knees left her. Itachi was in shock. Until then he didn't remember at all the days and the nights he spent with her. But in an instant after looking at her and her belly careful, all came to him. Every second when they kissed each other, they held each other. It all came back to him. Every single moment he spent with her, he felt them as if it was yesterday.

"I couldn't protect him. How could I be so stupid to do such a thing? It's all my fault..." Itachi took her in a tight, warm embrace and kept her close to him so that she could cry. "It's not your fault...calm down Sakura."

"Do you know how much I've suffered seeing Sasuke despise me and you for nothing? Do you know how much I despise him for killing them? Now you know the entire truth. There's nothing I didn't tell you. I tried so much but in vain to forget everything, but how can I when everytime when I see you or him I remember every single moment? I just can't forget as if it was years ago. I feel it as if it was yesterday. How can I forget? HOW?" she was yelling now her feet giving in and losing the strength. Practically Sakura was now sustained by Itachi entirely. He didn't want to let her fall. She was so fragile. He felt from any moment she was ready to fall into pieces. But he knew she was strong. She looked at him only to see him, hear him, whispering to her "Everything is going to be alright." he place his chin on top of her head not letting her go. They laid on the ground backed-up by a tree. He kept holding her to his chest. Now he finally understood everything. Sasuke was not the father of her baby. He was. He was the one Sakura loved. And he let her go through difficult times by herself. But had he known...Had he known anything...He would have stayed with her.

"I'm sorry. I should have remembered everything." he whispered to her ear but Sakura didn't hear at all as she fell in a deep sleep. Itachi seeing her, picked her up in his arms and walked with her back. Everyone saw the two of them, thought they had a fight, but it was not like that.

"I will be taking her home. Please continue your celebration." He made a sign to Sasuke as he saw him with Ino at the same spot which Sasuke understood. He finally knew. And everything will be fine. That made Sasuke smile.
